TestMyTech (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides browser-based testing tools for hardware and input devices (for example display, audio, mouse, keyboard, webcam, and gamepad tests). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, what stays on your device, and how limited analytics and cookies may be used.
1) What TestMyTech does
Most tools on TestMyTech run directly in your browser. In many cases, the test logic works locally on your device and does not require uploading your test activity to our servers.
2) Data we collect
We try to keep data collection minimal. Depending on the page and site setup, we may collect:
- Basic technical data (browser type, device type, page visits, approximate performance metrics)
- High-level usage analytics (for example which pages are visited and referral source)
- Security and error logs (for abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and site stability)
- Messages you send us directly (for example via email to [email protected])
3) Data generated by the tools
Tool interaction data (for example clicks, reaction times, keyboard presses, or device readings) is generally processed in your browser for the purpose of showing results to you on screen.
We do not intentionally store your test results on our servers unless a feature explicitly says it saves data (for example a future leaderboard or user-submitted score feature). If a feature later stores data, that feature will be clearly labeled.
4) Camera, microphone, and device permissions
Some tools (such as webcam test, microphone test, or gamepad-related checks) require browser permissions or device access. These permissions are requested by your browser, and you can deny or revoke them at any time in your browser settings.
- Webcam / Microphone: Access is used to run the test in your browser.
- Gamepad / Input devices: Input data is read locally to display test feedback.
- Battery / Sensor APIs: Availability depends on browser support and privacy restrictions.
We do not record or upload camera/microphone streams unless a page clearly states otherwise (and currently our tests are designed to run locally).
5) Cookies (including cookie policy)
TestMyTech is designed to work with minimal tracking. Some site functions or third-party services may still use cookies or similar technologies when enabled (for example ads or embedded services). Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser.
Types of cookies we may use
- Essential cookies: Needed for core site functionality (for example basic security, session behavior, or preference handling).
- Advertising cookies (if ads are enabled): Third-party ad providers may use cookies to serve and measure ads.
- Preference cookies: May store simple settings such as UI preferences (if such features are added).
We currently prefer lightweight, privacy-friendly analytics that do not rely on traditional analytics cookies for basic traffic measurement.
Google AdSense and third-party ads
TestMyTech may display advertising through third-party partners such as Google AdSense. These providers may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Google may use advertising cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
You can manage ad personalization through Google’s ad settings and control cookies through your browser settings.
How to manage cookies
Most browsers let you block, delete, or limit cookies. Please note that disabling some cookies may affect site functionality.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings
- Use private/incognito mode for temporary sessions
- Adjust ad personalization settings in your Google account (if applicable)
6) Analytics
We may use privacy-focused analytics (such as cookieless traffic measurement) to understand overall traffic, popular pages, and site performance. This helps us improve the usability and reliability of TestMyTech without building detailed personal profiles of visitors.
Analytics data is used in aggregate form where possible and is primarily used for site improvement, debugging, and content planning.
7) External links
TestMyTech may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Please review their privacy policies separately.
8) Data retention
We keep collected data only as long as necessary for legitimate business, security, analytics, or legal purposes. If you contact us by email, we may retain that communication for support and record-keeping.
9) Children’s privacy
TestMyTech is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will review and remove it if appropriate.
10) Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights related to your personal data (such as access, correction, deletion, or objection). If you want to make a request, contact us at [email protected].
11) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the site, legal requirements, or services. When we update it, we will change the “Last updated” date on this page.
